A broken link is basically a missing file. You follow a
link from the site and it goes to somewhere you didnt expect,
or worse still, doesnt actually lead you anywhere apart from
an 'error' page.
These error pages are commonly known as "404's"
after the standard error code used in transferring files across
the internet (an error code of 404 would tell the programmer
that the file was unavailable for a certain reason).
So why is it missing?
It would appear that the file you are looking for is not to
be found on Scouting Resources. This may be for a variety
of reasons:
The file is being updated or modified
The file may be incorrectly spelt or worded
The file may be missing from the server
The link may be a 'bad link'
It is temporarily out of service
What can I do about it?
Please check that you have followed a valid link or entered
a valid file name. A common error is to mistype a URL (the
address you use to visit a website) or to 'cut and paste'
an incorrect URL. Are there any obvious errors in the URL
such as mispelling or characters that shouldnt be there?
Try using the search facility to find what you are looking
for. Perhaps the most effective way to find your way around
when you are lost (and the first resort of many users) is
to use a search facility.
It still doesn't work!
If you think that you have found a broken link please use
