They can also be used to stop a rope from slipping through a hole or to provide a handhold. If you are throwing a rope tying a stopper knot to add weight to the end will make your job a lot easier.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.scoutingresources.org.uk\/wordpress\/outdoor-adventure\/knots\/stopper-knots\/figure-of-eight\/\">Figure of Eight\u00a0<\/a>- It is easy to untie and can be quickly tied<\/p>\n<p>Crown Knot\u00a0- Used to start more complex knots<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.scoutingresources.org.uk\/wordpress\/outdoor-adventure\/knots\/stopper-knots\/overhand-knot\/\">Overhand Knot\u00a0<\/a>- The simplest of all knots<\/p>\n<p>Wall Knot\u00a0- Very similar to the Crown Knot<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.scoutingresources.org.uk\/wordpress\/outdoor-adventure\/knots\/stopper-knots\/sink-stopper\/\">Sink Stopper<\/a>\u00a0- Useful for stopping a thin rope from slipping out of a hole<\/p>\n<p>Diamond Knot\u00a0- Strong and nice looking<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.scoutingresources.org.uk\/wordpress\/outdoor-adventure\/knots\/stopper-knots\/stevedore-knot\/\">Stevedore Knot<\/a>\u00a0- A bigger version of the Figure of Eight Knot<\/p>\n<p>Monkey's Fist\u00a0- Very useful for weighting the end of a rope<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.scoutingresources.org.uk\/wordpress\/outdoor-adventure\/knots\/stopper-knots\/stopper-knot\/\">Stopper Knot<\/a>\u00a0- This is a very decorative stopper knot<\/p>\n<p>Matthew Walker Knot\u00a0- One of the few knots named after a person<\/p>\n<p>Manrope Knot\u00a0- Traditionally used on ships<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Introduction Stopper Knots are often used to bind the end of a rope so it does not fray.
